The Personal
Law is a second career for William Gibson: he entered law school at the age of 40 after may years spent working in his family's business, Gibson and Gibson: The On-Time Printers in Johnson City. The move to the legal worked turned out to be a satisfying choice. "I like the intellectual challenge and the ability work with people and help solve problems," he says. For the past 15 years, he's done his problem solving on behalf of the Broome County government, where his focus included collective bargaining agreements, grievances and arbitration as well as a good deal of municipal law work.
A committed volunteer, Gibson has held leadership positions in St. James Church, the Johnson City Rotary Club and Serving the Elderly through Project Planning (SEPP); he has also served on the boards of the Broome County Urban League, the Broome County YMCA, Crime Victims Assistance Center, and several other organizations. "I think you have a duty to be active and to give back," he says. When he's not engaged in legal or community matters, you might find Gibson playing on the golf course, exercising, working on his yard or making trips with his wife to visit their grandchildren in Maryland.
